1Set the scene

* Ask the children what they usually do on their birthdays. Have the children talk about how they celebrate their birthday. Present the words gift when the children mention it.

Ss: Try to talk about it.

* Ask one child “When is your birthday” and write the name of months on the board

Ss: Try to answer the question,

* Model the name of the months. Have the children listen carefully. Model the words March, September and October and have the children repeat.

Ss: Repeat the words.

2Get prepared

* Have the children listen the story and order.

Ss: Listen to the tape and try to order.

* Play the tape.

Ss: Listen and order.

* Have the children open the book and check the answer.

Ss: Open the book and check.

* Have the children read the story by themselves.

Ss: Read the story.

* Play the tape again and have the children look at the picture.

Ss: Listen to the tape and look at the picture.

* Play the tape and have the children repeat.

3Tell the story

* Have the children look at the bottom of the pages.

* Have the children look at the picture and the teacher tell the story.

* Have the children read the story by themselves and answer some questions.
