Role Duties:
Undertake research & development projects including crop phenology tracking (flower and fruit counts) and agronomic trials.
Assist with experimental design, development of trial protocols, execution of field activities, data collection, data analysis and report preparation.
Liaise with Technical Advisor, support horticulturist and production teams to ensure irrigation and canopy management best practices.
Monitor irrigation scheduling, drainage, root health and pot moisture; liaise with support Horticulturist, Technical Advisor and production teams to ensure irrigation scheduling practices are optimised to crop stage and climatic conditions.
Assist with monitoring of berry sites in relation to nutrition, irrigation, pest & disease, growth stages and pollination activity, where support is deemed necessary.
Assist with Variety Improvement programme as directed.
Take leaf and water samples for analysis & consign to various diagnostic services as necessary.
Report & communicate all results and findings to Technical Advisor.
Translation and administration duties as required, in a timely manner
Candidate Requirements:
Tertiary training degree and preferably Master's degree in horticulture.
Driving license and ability to drive competently
Good level of written and spoken English
Experience in research
Experience in horticulture production
Diligent, responsible and reliable
Ability to communicate with many different managers, advisors, horticulturalists
Ability to adapt to seasonal challenges with a sense of urgency.
